The best way to deal with all the different temperatures and microclimates each day on the Inca Trail to Machupicchu is to dress well and using several clothes.
Or layers rather than using one jumper expecting it’s enough for the whole trek. In case you forgot something in your Inca Packing List For Machu Picchu. Don’t forget the flashlight in your Packing list! and it is personal no sharing ( this always happens! ) no electricity at the campsite, quite a useful tool in need to prepare your bed or find facilities. Remember is only 7 kg. This way you don’t need to pack up too many things, but by packing smartly and with a little help, you will be definitely prepared for your wonderful Adventure along the Inca Trail to Machupicchu!
First Up: your Bag
As soon as you’ll arrive in Cusco. Your Tour Guide will meet you at your hotel for the pre-trek Briefing with your group and the tour manager. Then You’ll be providing a small duffel bag from the company to pack -up all your personal belongings.
As we mention before your packet duffel bug has a 6-7 kilogram max weight limit, so pack only the necessary thing you will need for the Inca trail to Machupicchu
For the Machupicchu Inca trail. You will need a small daypack enough to hold things you will need during each day
Don’t Carry Extra weight while you are Hiking
Highly Recommendation, leave in the Hotel things you won’t use while hiking the 4-day Inca Trail. Or leave in our office store all your extra belonging, also keep in mind, you won’t have access to it until the end of your trip.
NOTE: what you have to pack for the Short Inca Trail which is done in 2 days is totally different from what you will learn in this article.
Passport
Passport: you Must bring and carry your Original passport while you are hiking the Inca Trail. ( it must be expiring ) Keep it in a weatherproof bag in case it rains.
Sleeping Bag
Very important! Try to get a good quality feather sleeping bag. You won’t carry it yourself, our porters will, as lighter, as better! (-5) or you can rent a good quality REI sleeping bag in our Office – Cusco.

Waterproof Hiking Boots or Comfortable Hiking Shoes
Don’t try to lock with brand-new hiking boots, you will probably end up with painful blisters after the first day. Choose your order to secure comfort for your feet.
Your boots should be lightweight and have uncle support and grip. Inca trail means paved and a lot of stairs all the way up and down. Don’t expect to walk in the park

Water Bottle
Highly recommend using a refillable bottle because. We will provide you with water every day, this way you and all trekkers reduce the pollution and garbage on the Inca Trail to Machupicchu. We suggest you buy two x one-liter bottles or if you feel comfortable with a CamelBack still working at your convenience.
Walking Poles
Great stuff to add to your Ultimate Packing list for The Classic Inca Trail to Machupicchu, helps with your balance, reduces weight for your legs, a great help to keep safe going down steep stairs. You can bring your own, or rent here in our office. Black Diamond pols
Sleeping Bag Liner
You really only need this if you plan on renting a sleeping bag, however, it does add a little extra snuggle on a cold night
Any Cain of plastic bags: To keep things dry in your daypack and for your garbage.
Daily Clothes.
During the Inca Trail you will hike between 6-9 hours per day, very important to be prepared and enjoy the views during the walk but no matter the temperature trekking the Inca trail definitely warms you up, pack layers you can easily take off and put on.
Dry-Fit Long sleeve shirt: Don’t use cotton for trekking, this material takes longer to dry.
Hiking shorts: Ideal if you have or are about to have 2 in 1 hiking pants with zippers to make them shorts!
Warm Jacket: Better if it has a hoodie, if not get a hat, you may need it to keep warm your ears during the chilly nights at the campsite.

- Flip flops/ thongs ( to relax your foot at the end of each hiking day
- Thermal underwear and base layers: For ladies advisable bring 3x short sleeve shirts

Packing headgear
Very important to mention. You must have on your packing list for the Inca Trail to Machupicchu, the sun gets very strong during the day, stronger than normal probably where you are from. Here you will hike at a high altitude and the sun can badly burn, so it is very important to save your head from unwelcome effects after being long in a sun during the day. Also, chilly nights require some head warmth.

- Camera and extra batteries as there are no charging points along the trail.
- Cash for tips for porters, guide and small purchases, access toilets at Machu Picchu, etc.
- Snacks Energy bars, mix nuts
A General First Aid Kit
Such as Insect repellent, hand sanitizer, Rehydration sachets, Tylenol, Imodium, band-aids, and Diamox for Altitude sickness
Toilette paper!: This is just as important as good shoes. One or two rolls should be enough. You should also pack some plastic bags, so you can bag up your paper and rubbish along the way (the porters carry rubbish in large bags). Many trekkers leave their papers on the trail after they relieve themselves, which is very uncool.
Basic personal Toiletries:
Prepare to embrace your grimy side – you won’t have access to a shower on the Inca Trail until day three, and the facilities aren’t particularly glamorous (you’re unlikely to have any hot water either). We suggest packing a small towel, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, travel soap, and a packet of wet wipes very handy in lieu of a shower…
Swimsuit: you may need it in Aguas Calientes in a hot spring.
